Green Engage®: responsible resource management
While you enjoy the luxury and comfort of the Amstel Hotel, we also pay attention to how we use energy and other resources.
InterContinental Hotels & Resorts uses Green Engage®, an online system that supports our hotels in monitoring and managing energy and resource consumption. At the Amstel Hotel, we use this system to monitor our consumption and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce unnecessary use of resources.
Our approach focuses on practical measures and ongoing monitoring, allowing us to make informed decisions about the use of energy and resources within the hotel.
green globe certified
The Amstel Hotel has been awarded Green Globe Platinum certification. Green Globe certification assesses organisations against criteria covering areas including sustainable management, social and economic factors, cultural heritage, and environmental performance.
Platinum status is awarded by Green Globe to members that have maintained certification for ten consecutive years and have demonstrated continued efforts across the areas covered by the Green Globe Standard.
Please note that the Amstel Restaurant is not Green Globe certified.

You can choose whether your towels are replaced during your stay. If you would like to use your towels again, please hang them up after use.
This helps us avoid unnecessary washing and associated use of water, energy and detergents.
Energy and resource management
The Amstel Hotel has implemented a range of measures relating to energy and resource use, including:
– LED lighting in designated areas
– Induction equipment in the kitchen
– A building management system, P.R.I.V.A., supporting the management of air treatment throughout the building
– Double-glazed windows
– Draught strips and draught curtains
– Energy-efficient televisions
– Housekeeping equipment selected with resource use in mind
– Washing machines with an A energy rating
– A towel and linen programme allowing guests to choose when these items are replaced

– Transportation options including bicycles, electric bicycles, boats and Tesla transfers, subject to availability
– Water management procedures, including daily disinfection and monitoring
– Waste compactors used where appropriate before collection
– Chemicals stored in a designated area in accordance with applicable safety procedures
Waste and emissions-related measures
– Separation of different waste streams
– Waste processed for energy recovery through ICOVA, where applicable
– Reuse of office paper through double-sided printing
– Reduction of paper use through digital processes
– Adjustable flow controls on selected taps and showers
